The 2023 PingPongParkinson® World Championship has concluded, marking an extraordinary event filled with competitive spirit and surprising outcomes. Congratulations are in order for all participants for their unwavering determination, with special accolades to the medal winners for their exceptional performances.
The tournament, which started on September 26th, 2023, and ended on September 30th, 2023, saw its climax in the gripping finals. Notable among the highlights were the world champions Thorsten Flues and Ilya Rozenblat, who had previously won titles in 2021 and 2022. They competed in the Men’s singles class 1, showcasing an impressive match. Both players are renowned for their three title wins at past world championships.
Rie Koyama's performance was also a standout, as she maintained her undefeated streak in all her matches. She successfully defended her 2022 title in the Women’s singles class 1, showcasing her extraordinary skills and earning the gold medal once again.
Silke Kind emerged as a remarkable player, securing three medals across different events: Women’s singles, Mixed doubles, and Women’s doubles in class 1. Her partners were Thorsten Flues and Gabi Salingré in the respective categories.
The Men’s doubles class 1 was fiercely contested by the Dynamites, Jesper Jerslund and Peter Derheld. They faced tough competition from the German pair Thorsten Boomhuis and Thorsten Flues, who ultimately clinched the gold medal.
